Flopping: Where Amazing Happens

NBA players are often times criticized for deceiving or the more current term of flopping more than any other sport.  LeBron James, the leagues best player, has inspired a social media trend called “Lebronning” just off his well publicized ability to flop.  The league has gone so far as to fine players $5,000 for each flop.  Why now is this becoming popular when the Art of Flopping has existed in all sports for many years?

Cotto-Martinez recap

For one night last night at Madison Square Garden we got to see vintage Miguel Cotto as he outclassed Sergio Martinez for his WBC middleweight championship.  The speed was there, the impeccable defense was there and most of all for the real boxing fans, the left hook was there.

Where does all of the LeBron slander come from?

LeBron James is a phenomenal athlete, he’s elite in every sense of the word.  His ability on the court has already garnered him enough attention to be mentioned as one of the all-time greats if not the greatest ever.  He is in the prime of his career and has more than lived up to the hype of being a once in a lifetime player.  So why does he continue to get slandered for every single quasi-negative moment in his life?  The latest coming last night after James suffered severe cramps and could not finish game one of the Finals, a game his Miami Heat would lose.  Here are three factors that contribute to why LeBron receives so much criticism.

Things To Look For In The NBA Finals

Fundamental Ball vs Star Ball
The Spurs were able to get by OKC by virtue of sharing the rock, having great floor spacing and by believing in the teammate with the open shot.  Through 5 and ¾ games last year against the Heat that same strategy worked to perfection.  Do they have enough to get them that last ¼ they didn’t exhibit?  They boast an improved bench and Boris Diaw is playing some of the best ball of his life.  Kawhi Leonard has quietly put himself high up in the category of best two way players in the league.

CP3: A legacy gone awry

Greatness is personified in key moments, picking your team up and carrying them across the finish line. The Flu Game, Double Nickel, The Baby Hook, The Shot, The Boston Massacre and the Lebron coming out party in Detroit are just some of the moments seared in the minds of hoops fans over the years. Every now and then we get a moment where a star takes over but recently nothing has went down in comparison to those moments. Last night Chris Paul had a chance to have his moment....but failed.
